How Vivitrol Treatment Works
Vivitrol is a medication that contains naltrexone, a non-addictive opioid antagonist. It works by blocking the effects of opioids in the brain, reducing cravings and preventing relapse. Given as a once-monthly injection, Vivitrol can be an effective tool for supporting recovery from opioid and alcohol addiction.
FDA-approved medications like Vivitrol make it easier to focus on overcoming the underlying causes of addiction without the distractions of cravings or withdrawal symptoms, and therapy provides needed emotional support.
